We get a lot of jokes about moving to Tallapoosa. The most obvious one is the name. We hear "you moved where???" then the fact that we're 5 miles from Alabama brings in lots of laughs. Many of our friends and family just can't quite figure out why we love our little town. Today has been a perfect example of why we love it here. Our day started with a walk around town. The boys ride in our jogging stroller (I don't jog.......just walk!!) and I push while walking our dog Ginger on her leash. We stopped a total of three times on our journey. Each time, to talk with one of the many friendly people who live here. One stop was to talk with our neighbor CW Hart. CW and his wife Jo are like grandparents to the boys. They have nicknames that the boys gave them "C-Dub & Darlin'". On our next stop, we talked with someone we'd never met before; an older gentleman who just "had to see those beautiful boys". We walk on, all the while waving to every person we see out on their porch and every car that passes. The majority all waved back to us! That's just how you do it out here. Our last stop was in front of our own house. Our neighbors Claire & Mary Ruth were picking blueberries with their nephew/grandson, Nathaniel. We joined right in. We picked a few, then ate a few. We just got a jar of fresh blueberry jelly from Mary Ruth, who is also like a grandmother to the boys, and they call her "Mee Maw". After all that walking and picking blueberries, we were worn out, so we headed out to our neighbor's pool. The Walkers are so generous. We can swim any time, no matter if they are home or not! Luke & Levi call them Pops & Nana. More grandparents!! I hope you can now see why we love Tallapoosa. It's an awesome place to be!
