It's Been a Long Time!

I have to confess that I have neglected the Able Family blog. I had good intentions, but you know how that goes. Today is the start of a busy but exciting week. Vacation Bible School starts tonight at our church. I am the VBS Director, which is something I've never done before. It has been stressful, but lots of fun, too. I am really looking forward to tonight, especially after seeing the church decorated yesterday. The kids are going to have so much fun. It makes me think back to being a kid and how much I enjoyed Bible School. I had no idea all the planning and work that it took to make it possible.

Today is my mom's birthday. It is such a blessing to have a parent who is involved in your life. I appreciate my mom a lot more since my dad passed away. You never realize how much you will miss them.

We are also looking forward to a few other things this week. The boys and I are headed to the Atlanta Zoo on Monday morning with our friends Shannon, Arya, and Mina. Tuesday will bring a visit from Drew, who is Luke and Levi's 13 year old cousin. He will be staying with us until Friday. Drew loves the boys and they love him. He will be such a help to me.

Friday I will head out to the Atlanta Airport to pick up my cousin, Angie. She lives in Colorado and hasn't been out to visit in three years. I am so excited to see her. We have always been very close, even with the distance. She will be here for the weekend.

Fun times! Look for some pictures in the next week or two.

Truck full of cookies

I walked upstairs to put away laundry this morning and came back downstairs to find an empty chocolate chip cookie package on the floor. I question the two usual suspects and they both say "not me!!!" I am thinking how did they eat all these cookies in like 5 minutes, and then I walk in the kitchen to find Levi's tranporter truck filled with two cars.........and 10 chocolate chip cookies!

One for you, and one for me

Levi came home from school on Tuesday with a tangled-up necklace that he had made. He loves to string beads! He brought the necklace to me and said with excitement "it's for me and you, Mama!" to which I said, "Oh, thank you". The tangled mess lay on our counter the rest of the evening. The next morning Derek drove the boys to school for me so that I could have some time to do things around the house. After they left, I grabbed a cup of coffee and noticed the knotted-up necklace. I bet I worked for ten minutes to untangle that thing! It slowly started to straighten out, and to my surprise, it was not one necklace: it was two! One for Levi, and one for his Mama. I'm not sure why, but my eyes filled with tears and I immediately put my necklace on. I carefully searched through my closet for a sweater that would match my beautiful blue necklace, which I wore proudly the entire day. Sometimes it's the little things that mean so much....don't ask me why...but if you're a Mama, I bet you know exactly what I mean!

Luke and Levi...doing what they do best!

I walked into the den from the kitchen this afternoon to see Luke wearing my leather jacket, his rain boots, and playing his guitar while watching a Bon Jovi DVD. I wonder....is this how all rock stars start out??? Ha Ha Ha. I grabbed my camera to take a picture and then noticed Levi....in Dad's recliner, watching cartoons in the buff with that signature grin on his face. Yet another picture opportunity! There is never a dull moment around here. You should stop by and hang out for a bit to take in all the activity. Just be sure to call first.....Levi will need time to put on some underwear!
